At the Brumbies rugby union match on Good Friday I was discussing with my friend Dave McDonald, who is the Brumbies Chaplain, my 13 yo son’s recent foray into playing rugby. My son is not a large frame and some have (less than supportively!) suggested rugby is an interesting choice for him to make and he is likely to be injured as a result.

When discussing this with my friend he advised that although George Gregan is not a large man he has had a long career playing rugby union at the elite level (& still is) with relatively few injuries. He advised that what contributes to this low injury count is George’s willingness to spend more time stretching than his colleagues. George apparently continues with his stretches long after the other players have gone on to other activities. This has ensured his body is more flexible and less prone to injury.

What are you doing in your business to improve your “flexibility”, to reduce the likelihood of “injury” and increase your longevity “in the game”, the business game? Where are you putting in the extra when others have given up?
